Communication Skills

Communication skills are those involving the use of language.  They may be written or oral and include such things as presentation skills, report writing ability, the ability to get your ideas across, tact, a sense of humour, maintaining a cohesive argument, listening skills, questioning ability, language fluency and using drawings, charts and diagrams effectively.

Interpersonal skills

Interpersonal skills are those you use in dealing with others.  They include negotiation, counselling and motivating skills, the ability to take direction, conflict resolution, training, networking, team building, mentoring, liaising and customer service.  Interpersonal skills and communication skills are closely linked.

Analytical and problem solving skills

These skills are applied to ideas and situations requiring strategies and research.  They include data collection and analysis, finding alternative solutions to problems, creative thinking, reasoning ability, making decisions, improving and designing systems, investigative skills, attention to detail, generating ideas and evaluating outcomes.

Organising and managing skills

These skills involve the ability to organise your personal life and work.  They include time management, priority setting, planning and scheduling, budgeting, project management, asset management, risk management, logistics, marketing, business development, contract administration, human resource management.
